Let's define "Rasp" and "Fartcans"

Fartcans, I can get. Pretty much onomotapoeia, sounds like the bathroom on taco night. Rasp on the other hand, I think I get the concept. I can stand that more than the glass pack/ fart can, whatever. My main question, what can I do header and exhaust wise to not get either of those. One guy told me that "anything but stock headers will make it rasp like a civic." I'm actually half tempted to take his 3 inch exh from the y pipe, and res + muff delete. I guess the fourth and fifth questions are: does CAI and /or Cams make the sound that much different? Help me out so I don't destroy this beautiful shark!
