As the title implies, I know next to nothing about car audio, except for how to install decks.
Please bear with me as I ask some potentially painful questions.
I'm trying to figure out what kind of amp/amps I'm going to need for my subs. I've currently got two 12 inch Sony Xplod subs (380w rated, 1300w peak, 4 ohm), and I'm at a loss as to what I should look for in amps for them. I'm guessing I would want one for each sub, each at 1200w, mono channel. Am I somewhat close, or is there a lot more I'm needing to take into account that I'm not...?
EDIT: I just read that I shouldn't be exceeding the sub's RMS value by more than 25%, and that I should just ignore the peak value... this means I should be looking at something in the 400w area for an amp? Why even say the peak value if we're just supposed to ignore it?
