Newbie Here.
So i have had my Tibby for about a year and a half and she just hit 100k
And about a month or so an issue arose. One day out of the blue I added gas and she wouldn't turn on, she hesitated and I had to step on the gas a bit for her to turn on and even after my Tibby was on i had to hold down the gas for a bit longer till the car settled down. After that the problem hasn't gone away, I have tried fuel system cleaner to see if the problem would peresist and it did.
So the problem being the car won't turn on after fueling up even if i just add $10 or $20. I have to keep the car on as I add fuel and even then as soon as i insert the gas gun.? (LOL) the car starts sputtering and starts spewing out black smoke when i start pumping gas.
Once done she starts settling down and starts idling normally again.
Also when i open the gas cap you hear some gurgling noise from inside the tank which I'm assuming it's related to the same issue.
I need to fix this ASAP my girlfriends daughter has a Cardiac appointment in 2 weeks out of town and I would like to fix this issue before then.
I checked with a local mechanic (Since there aren't many Import knowledgable ones here) and just to check on the issue would be $30.. I think I could do the job if I knew were to start and add those $30 to whatever i need to buy/change etc...
