I've been experiencing a weird, somewhat random, yet more frequent than not power loss for quite awhile now. About 80% of the time I mash on the gas, the car almost goes. The other 20%, it does.
In my search to diagnose this, I've replaced the spark plugs and wires, fuel pump and filters.
Additionally, the car has I/H/E, a wideband, an SAFC2 and I think that's it as far as mods related to this problem.
SAFC reads seemingly normal and consistent TPS and MAF voltages.
I've noticed that most of the time while engine braking, the car will cut fuel to the injectors and I will lean all the way out which I understand is normal, but sometimes it will stop doing so around 2k and do some weird stumbly idle down thing. Other times, I can ride the gear all the way down to 500 or so like I feel like I should be able to. This is all background information leading up to this:
Today I decided to take a look at the IACV because I've replaced just about everything and to my knowledge, if it was faulty, there could be a potential random vacuum leak coming from there. I may be wrong about this.
I took it off to clean it out and have a look and found this:

Not only does it seem to have a resting state of open, it's crooked. I played with it a bit with a screwdriver, and it will go down to close all the way, which is where I assume it should rest because otherwise it would be giving me a nice vacuum leak, right? I'm thinking this may be the culprit giving me "random" power issues because sometimes the motor functions properly and closes or something?
Along with the incredibly irritating most of the time power loss, I sometimes have a stumbly idle. I think the IACV should only activate during idle, but if it's stuck open that can't be right, can it?
Somebody knowledged chime in please!! This has been driving me nuts for the past 6 months!
EDIT: I just went back out to the garage and put the keys to on but didn't turn the car on and went back under the hood to inspect the IACV and it both buzzes and vibrates slightly.... that seems like a pretty big lean towards bad for me. Anybody care to step out to the garage and check that?
