Today as I was flushing the radiator I noticed something.... the rad was spitting out the water in small amounts... oh oh :Jess:
...I decided to open the throttle to check if it increased the amount of water and it did.... Yes.... After being almost a year and a half without being able to drive it due to knee injury and surgery and recovery time and physical therapy and doctors recommendations not to........... THE HEAD GASKET GOES TO !@#$^% :3_steam:
It is not overheating nor knocking nor burning lots of white smoke but it will eventually and I rather tackle this sooner than later...
Now.... here comes the question.... I've been buying/gathering/scavenging parts to boost this i4 5 speed 2.0L CVVT but now that I have to remove the cyl head to get that fixed... what would be other things recommended to buy/install/do to prepare that cyl head for the boost project...
Unfortunately since I don't have ALL the parts needed for boosting right away , I don't know when exactly I will start putting everything together... therefore I will not install a set of Wiseco pistons I have....yet.
I've read that stiffer springs are a must while thinking about boosting to prevent valve float...perhaps some crower 4g63 springs... what about valves? oversized or stock sized?
I may have it decked ... not 100% sure about the port and polish... although I've been thinking for a looong time about gasket matching porting and polish DIY :JC-thinking:
I'm really looking forward suggestions or recommendations before I send that cyl head to the shop.
