GB: Delrin Shifter Bushings
![]()
Holding a group buy for Delrin (acetal plastic) shifter bushings. These bushings are universal for all the manual transmission Tiburons. Their purpose is to replace the sloppy OEM rubber bushings with a durable alternative, that has far superior tolerances. The result is an extreme increase in shifter feel and response.
Such bushings were manufactured in the past by Kartboy and KJB Motorsports. Both have since moved on from doing so.
...or moved on in general
The bushings are the same two-piece design seen in the past from others. Installation is simple as we have designed these to fit snugly in the shifter cable rings, but not so tight that you are left fighting with them . We put the product through 3 revisions to come to a fit and feel we were most happy with. They are CNC manufactured from Delrin stock. This keeps the dimensions exact from bushing to bushing.
I have been personally testing the latest revision on my car for 3 months and am still loving them. They show no signs of wear, they are incredibly resilient to hot and cold temperature extremes, and well as petroleum based products (gas and oil). To add to this Delrin has a low coefficient of friction and will not corrode or rust.

Why are the Delrin bushings better than the OEM rubber bushings?
The OEM bushings are designed to accompany additional play as to somewhat dull or soften the feel of the shifts. The soft rubber compound dries and cracks over time due to the exposure to varying temperatures and environment. They are also lined with a brass bushing that oxidizes and can seize to the shift arm pin on the transmission. Personally mine had completely separated from the rubber and seized to the pin. It took 45 minutes to get it to finally free from the pin. (see pictures below)

Why are the Delrin bushings better than brass bushings?
If not protected from the elements brass will oxidize and in time can seize itself to the steel pin on the shirt arm or the shifter cable rings themselves. You can see this from the picture above as well as others experiences. Check out the thread below.

Where are the shifter bushings located and how do I install them?

(Shift arm orientation varies slightly by transmission.)
