Fuel Door Release Question

Hey guys-

So I repainted my fuel door a couple of weekends ago, but since then, the release on it hasn't been working... Now whenever I fill up, I have to slide a credit card into the gap to push in the release tab.
Anyone else experienced this / know a solution?
