Hi Everyone,
I recently bought an '04 Tiburon with 121,000 miles on it. I'm the 3rd owner and the 2nd owner was unsure whether the original owner, and even herself, had ever gotten the timing belt changed. At this point, I'd rather be safe than sorry and go ahead and change the timing belt, but I wanted to ask a couple questions before I do.
1) Are the any evident "symptoms" of a timing belt going bad? If so, how would I be able to tell (ie. noise, rattle, etc.)?
2) Is it possible to inspect an existing timing belt to see if it's in good condition or not?
I'm assuming the answer to both of these questions would be "no," but I thought I'd ask.
Thanks in advanced!
