so i just picked up my car from a buddies house whos dad was supposed to install my clutch and flywheel. hes an ase certified mechanic for the last 25 years so i figured he knew what he was doing. he calls me at 9am this morning telling me that the tranny wouldnt come out. he said he managed to make it budge a half inch but wouldnt move from there so he hooked everything back up and didnt do my clutch. im not quite sure what he said was the issue, something to do with the input shaft and bolt that seemed to be fused to it not allowing him to remove it. i went on here did some searching and found some tid bits that i had read him making sure he had done the proper steps and what not and he had sworn he did everything he could.
so heres the issue. hes telling me since i bought a gm warranty with my car which includes the tranny that i should take it back to the dealer, tell them the trannys making some sounds and when they take it out and realize it wont come out they replace it under my warranty. now that to me sounds a little to good to be true.
my second option is take it to another mechanic, one i was referred to my my gf's dad and have him do the clutch for $400 and hope that the previous guy who tried to install my clutch just made a mistake.
has anyone had these issues before with a clutch install? any help would be great.
