So my fiance has a 04 v6 auto with only 40k miles on it and only mods done to the car are cat back exhaust. all routine maintance has been done(oil change, air filter..ect)drove the car to work then left 2 days around 3(around 70 degrees im in si cal so i no its not from the cold) in the afternoon we went to start it and it had trouble starting and had a lot of white smoke pouring out of the exhaust, posssbily a hint of blackalso the exhaust tips were wet(water, gas, coolant)? So right away im thinking head gasket, right? so i didnt get into detail but checked it out quickly and it i dint think it lost any coolant, didnt see any leaks of any kind but the oil was very low. So i decided to just cruise it home becasue I only live 10 min away and it dies a few times at start up and almost stalled out leaving parking lot but within 5 min it ran fine, no smoke seeemd good on power. I should also mention in the previous days before my chick mentioned it seemed low on power and it stalled out at a stop twice but started up fine and the last few weeks every so often upon start up the cabin would smell like gas for awile(mostly with heater on) the temp guage didnt read hot.We added oil and changed the coolant, My buddy tried the quick fix head gaskent sealent(I no i hear lots of bad things but was hoping it was worth the try) The car had trouble starting but did within a few tries and it smoked at start up ran it about 15 min then easily test drove it. Car felt good and once its been ran a little there is no smoke and starts easily. So i thought sweet its fixed, or atleast temporarily. I get in it this morning to go to work and same thing has trouble starting tons of smoke and would die, so i opted to not drive it...so does that quick fix stuff sometimes take awile to seal everything or very possibly not work.So I may be looking at head gasket? and hopefully the head is ok? does anyone think it could be pistion rings? or even something as simple as pvc valve or...? thanks any input is greatly appreciated
