interior accent color.

I have an 04 tiburon and you know how on the shift surround and on the door handles they put like a rubber coating on them, well long story short they get all scratched up. I sanded the rubber down and have painted them but i cant seem to get the paint to last very long without rubbing or chipping off, has anyone used any type of paint or have any ideas for something that might work better.

I really don't want to order new ones they are way over priced would rather spend the money on something else, also just want them black.
