Part out. 2003 Tuscani GT

I got the shaft. The previous owner had the timing belt replaced 40k ago, turns out the work wasn't done at all, and now I can't find the shop, and neither can he. Snapped on me on the freeway the other day. Can we say: "goodbye engine?" So, I've got a week to part it out before I sell it for scrap. Major upgrades are: EBC red stuff brake pads barely past their break in period (~200 miles), wagner vented OEx rotors put on at the same time. The OE wheels are in good condition with tires less than 3k on the front, rear tires are close to the wear bar. Pirelli's in the front. I have a K&N air filter installed just after the brakes for the factory air box.

Big ticket items are a used transmission purchased from Automotix. It has 59k miles on it and is certified working by them, manual 5 speed. $700 firm. only needs clutch, gear fluid and the axle.
I also have a timing belt that I was planning on doing my next day off, but too little too late. Comes with water pump.
I have a brand new throttle cable as well, $20 + shipping
Passenger door lock actuator, $50 + shipping.


Other than that, let me know what you want, and I'll see what I can get off before the end of this week. I just want to get what money I can back out of it so I can scrape together what I can for another car. I'm considering financing a genesis 3.8 R-spec with everything I get from this going for the down payment.

Hello I'm purchased an 03 Tiburon GT about 3 weeks ago. The car was bought cheap as repairs are need, new rad, rear wheel bearing and brakes. I also have to replace the lower control arm on the passenger side and have run into a problem with one of the 2 bolts that contact it to the subframe. The nut (I assume its a nut) that's welded inside the subframe has broken free. The bolt just spins and there doesn't appear to be any kind of access holes to get to the nut. I've read a little bit about the problem on the Internet but failed to find any real solutions. Has anyone else had this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1. 03 V6 2 Bit ECU with attached ECUMaster DET3 75 OBO- I had to replace the internal MAP sensor with wiring for an External GM MAP sensor. Wiring is there but has been cut because I didn't need it for the Supercharger Tune. Otherwise the DET3 is fully functional and comes preloaded with a Stage 2 Tune for use with 370Z 370cc injectors.


2. Rare 2 Pod Gauge Piller 50 OBO. Not the cheapo half pillars. This is a full pillar.

In dire need of a clutch conversion kit for either an 03 or an 07 gt 2.7 v6. I own both year models, and of course the clutch is bad in both. Any conversion kit that is compatible is good with me. Thanks in advance

Fuel gauge not going to empty

I recently changed my fuel filter and strainer on my V6. I accidentally broke the plastic that holds the arm for the fuel level sensor and float so I purchased another housing case and sender unit for the fuel pump. Now the fuel gauge shows as a 1/4 of a tank left even though the car has run dry. I Tried taking the unit out of the tank and moving the float arm to see if it registers on the fuel gauge. The needle goes up to full when I push it one way but when I push it the other way that should show as empty the needle stops at 1/4 full and the miles on the trip show 94 miles left. I have tried changing the sender unit but this doesn't solve the issue and the needle drops back down to empty when the ignition is off.

Hey Everyone, I'm pretty new to this forum. I am having an extremely weird issue with this car and have searched everywhere but not been able to find anything like it.

[Backstory] I purchased a 2006 Tiburon 5sp manual 2.7L v6 with around 100k miles on it about 5 months ago. Before I go any further I should mention I am not at all experienced in car repair. Originally it didn't seem to have any issues, except for a brief moment the check engine light came on and showed a code indicating one of the O2 sensors was bad. However the light went away fairly quickly and never came back so I didn't think much of it.

[Issue] Now for the past couple months I have been having some strange issues. When driving the car will sometimes start jerking (at lower speeds quite badly at higher speeds it is less noticeable). The jerking will only happen when the accelerator is initially pressed. If I am coasting down the road and press on the accelerator the car will start jerking for a few seconds and then run fine for as long as my foot is kept on the pedal. If I take my foot off, the next time I reapply the gas the car will jerk for a few seconds again. These periods of jerkiness will come and go, generally lasting for about a few minutes. When it is going through one of these fits if I take the car out of gear the tach goes crazy, the car will rev itself up and down without me touching any of the pedals. Generally it doesn't get past 4000 but will randomly rev itself down to about 1000, up to 3000 and anywhere else between 1-4000. This will happen regardless of the speed I am going. If I turn the car off at this point it is hard to get it back on. Normally I have to wait a few minutes and then burn the hell out of the ignition (maybe 7-10 seconds) before the car turns back on. While it is hard to turn back on, if the car is turned off and on during one of these periods the issue always leaves for at least 30 minutes after the car is restarted. Recently the check engine light also came on again for a short period and the computer showed the code P0118: Type - Powertrain, fuel and air metering. Description: Engine coolant temperature Sensor 1 circuit high. However my temperature gauge has never even crossed the halfway mark. I'm super confused what the problem could be here. So far I have replaced the Idle air control valve but this did not resolve the issue. Any advice is much appreciated.

The big annual event "Street Scene" is coming up August 19th at Long Branch Park Liverpool, NY. This will be my first year attending and thought it'd be fun to roll in with some other NY Tibs if anyone else is attending. I didn't pre-register so I'll be waiting in the line to register and enter. I don't plan on entering any of the judged competitions, just wanna hang out and check out other people's rides. I'm already in Liverpool so my drive wont be far, but we can meet somewhere in Liverpool and drive to the event together so that we can park together.

Re-fueling issue. 03' GT V-6 Please H-E-L-P

Re-fueling issue is when I put gas into my 2003 tiburon GT V-6, the gas starts to back-fill into the gas inlet (I can hear it), an shuts off the gas pump handle like it would if you were topping off your tank. This happens 10-15 seconds after I squeeze the handle all the way open. If I slow it down to the least amount of flow it will last about 50-60 seconds before it shuts off. Also, when I start the car after a full tank re-fuel, it bogs and wants to stall until I put it in gear. Anybody ever experienced a similar problem?

I found a wrecked (Slightly) 2004 Tuscani Elisa! If I told you what I paid for it you will be jealous. Im super stoked! Im using the car to rebuild my 03 completely. Full interior and everything. Will be parting out after. Looking for pointers and things I need to know before I begin this weekend. I plan on swapping the entire hatch and doors complete with panels, All the interior, Seats, Panels, Carpet, Sunroof etc etc. This thing has all the bells and whistles. Any swap info would be greatly appreciated.

2000 auto to manual swap issues

I have a 2000 tibby and I had trans issues with it not shifting properly. I decided to swap the auto trans with a manual and now the car won't crank. Has a new starter and lots of other things are new. I'm thinking it has to do with the neutral safety switch but I'm not sure how to go about tricking the computer to thinking its in neutral without having to swap out the harness and computer for the one that came out of the manual car

I just made my own IAC restrictor plate and i must say best mod ive done so far. Ive made 30 something out of a big sheet of metal. ive listed the rest on ebay. Also ive always wonder why hyundai made the iac stay open so long after a rev? my best guess is for emissions or new drivers learning how to shift. what do you guys think? Anyone else have a similar experience with almost blocking one hole on the iac? My plate i made took it away about 90%. When i rev they dont hang around 2k anymore they just drop.

08 limited gt SRI question

Hello, I recently bought an 08 Tiburon from a dealership. I noticed it had an aftermarket intake on it which I didn't mind as it looked and sounded nice. Literally the next day of driving It threw a lean CEL. I did a bunch of research and found it to be pretty common with that year and with a SRI, but I would like to get rid of it without dumping a lot of money into it. I had to look it up to find out it is a cheap eBay intake, chromeintakes specifically. Running my obd while driving I noticed that the I take air temp went upwards of 140 F. Also of note, the MAF is connected straight to the filter. I already took apart and cleaned the filter, MAF, and throttle body with the battery unplugged. The CEL will go away every once in a while but always comes back within a day or two. What is my best/cheapest option? Should I be at all concerned about engine damage?

Hello, I'm pretty new to this and I just bought a completely stock 2008 tib se and i quickly realized I need more power. I really want to turbo my car but keep it daily drive-able. Any advice for a certain kit or any support mods I would have to do first? Or some n/a power mods that would keep me satisfied? Any advice would be great, thank you

2006 Fog light switch part #

Hello. I'm trying to replace my fog light switch in my 2006 tiburon. I've ordered 2 off ebay that are listed as 03-08 but they both do not fit. They are smaller then the one I have. My console has 2 switches and from looking online there is a different type of console with 4 switches. Does anyone have the part number for the fog light switch for the 2 switch console? Thank you in advance.
