So last night, I spent about 2 hours watching various tig/mig welding of aluminum, and brazing aluminum with aluminum/zinc alloy rods.
It looks like something I'm going to try with my cracked upper oil pan. Has anyone here tried something like this? I mean, the braze doesn't have to be the strongest thing, but it must seal the crack obviously. There shouldn't be a ton of stress on the oil pan to actually merit a weld.
I may be crazy, but I think it would be beneficial to me to at least try it. Maybe if it works and I can do it well enough, I could use the skill for other mods..
