Hello fellow NT members! My name is Elvis from New York and I'm a proud new owner of an 03 Tiburon GT V6 5MT.
This is my first Hyundai but I have owned a couple of Kia Spectra's, Rio Cinco and a Sedona.
Found an awesome deal for this tib about 2 hours away in New Jersey and just had to get it.
The car itself has plenty of baseball sized dents and dings and has a couple of minor things it needs to be complete.
Here a pic of her fresh off the NJ/NY highways and in my driveway. Any tips and opinions will be highly appreciated. I plan on being a very active member and look foward to hearing from you guys!
btw, I'm assuming these aren't factory Hyundai rims, amirite?
EDIT: Can't post pics at this moment, will do in a sec.
EDIT2: BAM! PICS!

Alright I need an opinion on what is causing this problem. Whenever I'm driving going any speed and I release the gas pedal and then re-press it, the car makes sort of squeak noise and it jerks and then the throttle engages. I've already taken it to the dealer (bad choice) and they said it's either an update? or the TPS. They did the update, no luck. I just replaced the TPS today, no luck. I've also messed around with the throttle cable and still no luck. Any help?

Forgive me if this question has been asked before, but my lack of internet at the moment makes taking time to search a bit hard.
Anyway, a while ago I got stuck in bumper-to-bumper stop-start traffic in Sydney for about 30mins or so, and since then, when i am stuck in slow moving traffic, my clutch pedal will start to squeek when you push it in.
It doesn't do it all the time though. Under normal driving conditions its fine, start to use it a fair bit though and it will start squeeking.
I haven't really bothered doing anything about it yet, as I don't believe it to be anything worth worrying about until it starts doing it all the time. Just curious as to what exactly is squeeking, and weather it's just something I can continue to ignore, or weather a part just needs a bit of grease.
I have an 05 6 speed FWIW
Thanks

I received my NGM s/c cams from TC a few weeks ago, but there are no specs. Does anyone know the specs for these?
I saw on another post saying they were .370 lift with a 216 duration @ .050.

First problem..It only did this for a little bit then stopped and never did it again. I don't know a lot about cars but I know that ever since I got the car (a month ago) it has had problems starting up after filling up gas. From what I read it is a common issue with the purge valve? I don't know, could this be related?
As for the car not starting - It has done that a few times. Maybe a loose cable somewhere?

Second issue is another odd one. Much like the first one, it only did this once and hasn't done it since. so no clue. Also maybe this is linked to my rear right tail light (sometimes it doesn't work and I have to hit it to get it to come on)

One more thing....where do y'all go to get your breaks done? I could do them myself but I don't have the time now-a-days. Good prices and fast service.

Hi
Is it somebody who have mounted Tein upper pillowballmount on front struts. I will be happy if somebody have some advice in mounting these. I do not understand which part I am supposed to use from my old mount. To me it looks like I am supposed to split the old strut insulator, but that seems a bit strange, I doesn`t look like the old top is possible to split.
Any idea??
gratful for suggestions.

I took my new f/l bumper up to a body shop today and asked him what he could do with my emblems as well, he said that he wouldn't do it. No reason givin. So any tips on painting these? I know that FFF airbrushed all of the ones he did. There is an air brushing shop at my mall, should I take it up to them? Honestly I'm clueless, and I will do it myself as a last resort.
If I did them myself what steps would be involved

Hi guys,
I have been looking into my own air intake recently & I am really trying to make it give me as much torque as possible in the low to mid rpm range. So I have searched around the internet and the general consensus seems to be that you want a long smaller diameter pipe but I can't find any kind of logic that leads to the ideal pipe size for a given rpm range.
My throttle body (and this is a UK i4 08 ) has a throttle body that is (and could possibly be an upgrade as this is bigger than any aftermarket bbtb I've seen):
70mm External Diameter
63mm Internal Diameter
50mm (ish) at the butterfly valve
My theory is to try and match the internal diameter of the throttle body, so the pipe will be slightly less than 2.5" but that seems massive compared to the 50mm internal diameter.
So my question is, if I only want torque in the low to mid range and that is where I'm trying to move the power band to with other planned mods, should I go for an intake pipe that is slightly smaller (61.5mm) than the 63mm Internal Diameter because in theory then that should help on the torque front low down. (I get that there could be a "choke point" but I'd of thought that that would only happen at the top end of the revs, which is a range that I never drive in so I doubt I'll have any issues (I rarely change gear at more than 4,500 rpm)).
Another theory, and something I'm tempted to do, is to have the K&N filter connected to 3" pipe, then reduce that down to slightly under 2.5" (as mentioned above) as, according to Bernoulli's Principle, the smaller cross sectional area should increase the air speed, so that should deliver more air in than a conventional intake that is available for our cars, couple that with a long pipe feeding down through a hole down the side of battery behind the bumper and a cold air feed to the filter that should give me an awesome intake ... In theory?
Can anyone help with my theorising please? :-)

When I downshift and engine brake, the engine kinda stops decelerating for a moment, and the car lurches a small bit and then continues decelerating...any ideas what would cause this?
I just put in a new stock rear motor mount.
Would a worn (cracking) front mount cause this? I inspected the side mounts, they look okay.
Another issue I have is when it's below freezing, and I try to shift into 2nd, I get this rubbing as I slide it into 2nd. It's not grinding, but you definitely feel it rubbing against something, and it makes the shifter vibrate.
I also have sticking RPMs, but after all the searching on this forum, seems like no one has really figured out that mystery yet.
My Tib's an 03 V6, manual.

I'm going to be selling the tib soon so here's something I was planning on doing this summer. It was a pain in the a$$ to find all these parts so I'm pretty firm on the price but some wiggle room.
$230 shipped lower 48 states only.

Sometime this year I will be in the market for a sporty little commuter car. I don't want a Civic or an Acura or a Corolla, because everyone drives one of those. I was getting frustrated in my search until I remembered the existence of the Hyundai Tiburon. I'm looking at a 2005+ 4cyl manual. My research has brought up two questions, however.
The first question: what is up with the resale value? I know it helps me because it puts this car well within my budget, but I can't fathom why they lose value so quickly. All reports show these to be very reliable and even the cars I've seen with over 100k miles are pristine with all of the buttons, switches, and gauges working, and no leaking or burning oil.
The second question: the reason I want the 4cyl is for the fuel economy. But, with the relatively small difference in displacement between the 4cyl and 6cyl, I'm wondering if there is really that much a difference in fuel economy? If I drive with a light foot, is it possible to get around 28mpg with the V6? Or is it only possible with the I4?
