door open light on turns...

$

I have been having a problem for the past four days and I cant seem to find anything about it..
Basically whenever I turn my wheel (In any direction) while driving my door ajar light activates.
If I turn my wheel to even make a lane change, the door open light activates and the dome ligts come on.
A sharp enough turn causes the lights on the door panels to turn on. but no door chime..

BUT nothing appears to be wrong when I look at the door button things that tell the car the doors closed...
AND when I press on the doors from the inside of the car (I press hard) nothing happens.
so I think its safe to say the doors are completely closed when this happens.

Am I missing something? any suggestions?

Its a five speed has 102k miles my Warranty is gonna pay for my timing belt/water pump assembly (everything that deals with the timing belt). My question is what should upgrade first. Already has intake SRI from a Idk company. Mufflers, not cat back, and motegi (sp) rims and tires.
I'm thinking bout clutch and flywheel am I wrong?

Braided Clutch Line Which One?

Hey guys I have been having clutch disengagement issues and the only thing I haven't replaced is the rubber hose. I found an old thread where people were buying from a place called HEL, but their line is 38$ plus 15$ to ship from Britain. Has anyone found one that is at least in the US to cut down on delivery time? I want to get a quality part, but not spend a fortune on an 8" line.

WTB: Silver interior trim

How do i remove the trim in the door frame right at the floor

I know this is going to sound like a stupid question but I just got my '05 SE from a friend with only 42k on it and it is in prime condition. Im installing an interior neon kit in it and i need to run some wiring below the paneling on the floor connected to the door frame. i see two plastic caps on both sides but when i slide my knife up in there to try to pop 'em out they just ply and dont pop. im afraid to break them and have my new baby look like s*** can anybody help?

Do i just slide a flathead in there and pry till they pop out? ive read a lot of DIY posts on here stating that to get a lot of the interior out you have to pry on it like a mother f*****. if someone could lend me some advice quick itd be greatly appreciated i wanna get back out there and start working on it again at day break

Thanks, and I am stoked to be part of the community!!!

Dragging noise, cooked smell, odd looking pads, advice welcome

Morning everyone, just changed my front brake pads the other day and naturally with them being quiet and all I'm hearing a dragging sound from the right rear wheel. I took a glance at the pads on the backside this morning and notice 1, the passenger rear has a cooked smell to it after driving for an hour and 2, the passenger rear's pad itself looks different than the driver side.

Passenger rear

Driver rear

Passenger rear is making the noise and the smell and the pad itself looks quite different than the driver. Is this something that should alarm me or am I making a deal out of nothing?

NGM 200+WHP N/A Reflash (2003-2008 2.7L) = P0501

Hi,
I was wondering if the NGM 200+WHP N/A Reflash would throw the P0501 code? I installed the reflash about 2 weeks and this code came up. I will be removing the ECU this weekend to see if the code comes back up again, but in the mean time, can someone sheld some light on this? Thanks.

FYI... I drive a 2003 Tiburon V6 (auto transmission) with around 63,000 miles.

possible CV axle problem? what do you guys think

When i first purchased my tib over a year ago, i was aware that it had a cracked rim on the driver side that i had to replace because the tire would not hold air. It also had a big scrape under the side rocker and a scrape under the front bumper (all on the left side). I figured maybe the previous owner hit a curb. Anyway i always noticed a slight pop on the steering wheel and a small squeak coming from the left front when accelerating. i didn't pay much mind to it back then. NOW it has come to this.
1. When shifting from neutral, reverse, or park INTO drive. it makes a loud squeak and pop

2. when sitting at a red light it will sound kinda like this (squeak squeaks squeak squeak squeak) it does it repeatedly until i start going again in which it squeaks and makes a big CLUNK from accelerating.. but as it is squeaking at the red light i can feel each squeak on the steering wheel (if that makes sense).

3.when slowing down to a stop it will squeak and make a pop that i can feel on the steering wheel a few times before coming to a complete stop. then is when problem 2 starts occurring.

4. if you grab the wheel with your hands and rock the car back and forth it squeaks.

sorry if this is confusing guys i am just getting sick of it. I was hoping someone could shed some light on this.

EDIT: it also has 95k miles if that is of any help.

FS: SMT-6 tuner, phenolic spacer, MOMO rims

Like the title says guys I have a few Items for sale. The Tuner is bought used from slow 2K2GT but I never installed it. I'm sure he wouldn't sell me something broken. The Phenolic spacer is in 100% condition. Works great and defiantly notice a difference in the heat on the intake manifold. Third are a set of MOMO rims. The tires are done and have zero life left. I am selling them cheap because I bought them cheap because of the curb rash from the previous owner. For my selling price you could easily have it professionally refinished for cheap and have amazing rims. The deep dish on these rims looks sweet and I can assure you they are genuine MOMO. Pictures show everything and there are no bends. A great deal for some high value rims. Even as is does look sweet on your tib. Each picture shows a different rim so you can see each individually.

Tuner: 50$
Spacer:40$
Rims:200$

I just installed some D2 Coilovers, and I am having an issue with the end link bracket spinning the entire strut assembly. After reading threads and talking to D2, I think they are set up wrong. However, I can't find a picture of a proper set up and D2 does not have model specific instructions, so I dont know what I am doing wrong. Any one have pics handy that would show me?

Timing Belt Auto Tensioner Bolt Broke

$

So finally at 97k miles, I change my timing belt with a Gates kit from Rock Auto. Kit came with new A new hydraulic tensioner, idlers pulleys water pump, belt etc. I change everthing and runs great for a bout a week.

Yesterday at work I hear bad noises, instantly think its rod knock, spun bearings ect. Had it towed home. Once I got home I took the timing covers off to find timing belt fuzz everywhere. I was able to pull out the auto tensioner assembly by hand, the part with the pulley on it. The single bolt that holds it on had backed out about a half inch and broke.

I dont believe the timing got messed up, although it was started a few times to hear the noise.

I have peered in at the intake valves and they all look fine. Cant see the exhaust valves with the headers on.

I was planning on removing whats left from the bolt in the block, getting a new auto tensioner bolt and belt and seeing if it runs.

Thought on how to remove the bolt , and about the condition of the exhaust valves??

TL,DR ----Bad engine noises, result, auto tensioner for the timing belt, bolt backed out and broke.

Intake vlaves look fine, not sure about exhaust.

Plan, remove whats left of the bolt , buy new bolt and timing belt. Put back together. .

THOUGHTS??

I tried taking pictures but my camera isn't powerful enough to clearly pick up the small letters. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello everyone!

Really glad to see a bunch of like minded individuals for the Tiburon! We've (It's actually the wife's car) got an '05 GT V6 love the car and attempting to reign back on the planned (or should I say wanted mods) due to finances... I look forward to being active on the forums

So, I bought aftermarket tires and now the handling sucks...why?

Could be a couple of things.

I looked for some threads relating to tire pressure (before I started this thread to provide some info) and found these 2...

http://www.newtiburon.com/forums/sho...light=pressure

http://www.newtiburon.com/forums/sho...light=pressure

When you did the new tires, did you buy exact replacements (to OEM tires) or do a different tire?

If an exact replacement (size, brand & model), recheck your tire pressures against the owners manual or the label in the drivers door.

But, if you changed the tire, you may NOT want to use the original tire pressures.

Why?? What holds up a tire is partly the sidewall construction, the majority is the air.

For some tires, they have a max inflation of 44psi cold (molded in the tire sidewall), while others may have a 51psi max inflation.

So, say your OEM tires had a max of 44 and you went to a max of 51, you are likely running too soft a pressure which will mess with handling.
So, what to do.....I have a decent "rile of thumb" that works almost all the time. Big tires on a very light car (early Mazda Miata is an example) fall outside my "RoT".

The rule is, run 80-85% of max inflation, the front should be ~2 psi more than the rear.

On a tire that has a max of 51psi, run ~46psi front, 44psi rear. Changing the pressure can tune the ride, changing the front/rear bias can change the handling.

My wifes 04 Tib has ContiContact DWS and I run her pressures at 46psi front, 43psi rear. It corners well and the ride is not too stiff.

I do the same for all our cars (except the Jeep Cherokee......) and have no issues and the handling is sharp.

Another bit of info, your tire pressure changes by ~1psi/10*F change in temp. This could be why a car with TPMS has a light on in the morning, but it goes off after driving or later in the day. The extra heat can raise the pressure enough to fit above the lower limit (I do not believe ANY TPMS lights up with high pressure, only low pressure).

[A good example of pressures is my own Subaru. OEM tires were a Potenza RE-092 with a max of 44psi, current tire is a Pirelli P-Zero Nero M&S with a max of 51psi. Stock tire pressures are in the mid 30psi range, I currently run 46psi front 42psi rear to allow a bit of TTO.]

Wheel Weights

Afternoon! I'm looking into a set of 17x7 MB Wheels Seven X and would like to know what the weight and offset is for the wheel.

I've got a 2005 Tiburon GT V6, also looking to put a set of 235-45/r17 on them.

Would also like some recommendations on any other potentilally light weight (under 20lbs) rims in the 17" range.

WTB: A simple screw that I cannot find! The window stopper

If any of you have ever taken your window out, you'll notice on each door there is a "window stopper" This stops the window from sliding too high up or too low down. I cannot level my passenger side because I lost one of those.

Just a simple little screw that will take 5 minutes to get to! If anyone is in the NYC area, PLEASE PM me!
