Quirky gas pedal leverage trick

2005 gtv6 6 speed manual

I found a strange quirk in the tiburon gas pedal,not sure if its unique to my car? I havent found anyone on here to mention it .

if you press the gas pedal all the way to the very top and fold the plastic gas pedal foot flap (where the foot grips are)down it makes the flap tilt almost horizontally

once its horizontal and your foot is in that awkward position press the gas pedal so that it revs the engine normally(make sure plastic flap is tilting down first which is separate from metal pedal, then secondly make the metal pedal go down so that you can accelerate)almost like a 2 step process but this only works in 1st gear on my 6 speed and very limited in 2nd gear

This is quite extraordinary and the car literally jumps forward whilst you stick hard back in your seat the sound scares me haha,my reasoning why it works is simple the technique creates more leverage so accelerator cable opens up all the way in a split second causing the car to accelerate alot faster I found even if you try getting the same magnitude of force on the gas by mashing down hard without technique it doesn't work and if you don't flip the plastic flap for some reason it doesn't work,which is completely wierd

Before you try to doubt or abuse this post try it

I once made the engine hit the bottom engine mount doing this so be careful

You must make clutch engage in gear (1st gear) and one it bites take your foot completely off accelerator/gas pedal and press again with technique

P0031 let the flaming begin

Ok so I know what the elders of this forum are about to say do the research .but I did and the years of random data did not help. So alas I ask 05 gt going into limp mode after p0031 code, I understand it’s an 02 sensor issue I have headers and no cats any were to a greddy cat back so I un pluged all 02 sensors becuse I don’t care about emmisons I live in Kansas and the check engine light has been on in every car I’ve owned. So why am I still getting this code and limp mode when I watch the live data the stft number increase a lot but the ltft numbers stay 0 what is going on? In the immortal words of the human torch Flame on.

So I have been looking at standalones, comparing different lines and brands and realized that none really talk about transmission controls. Not a big deal for manual cars but unfortunately/fortunately for me I have an auto. Does anyone know if the transmission control unit is part of the ECU or is it separate?

Found an 03 Tib v6 in junkyard today, missing shifter. I have an 07 SE w/6 speed, looking for spare to rebuild as mine has iffy synchros. What are the quick ways to ID what the JY 03 has, 5 or 6 speed (casting/data tag/ numbers/location/etc)? Also what other Hyundai models have identical 6 speeds, maybe with better hwy gearing (Elantra,SantaFe?)? Thanks all...

Alright guys I'm going to share what's going on and has been for the last week, so my car is an 03 GT SE 6-speed with 146000 miles. Mods are I/H/E - Stage 2 clutch/lightweight flywheel with a short throw shifter.

So okay, I started having problems with the angine while driving to work. It started off at first rough idle then would clear up after a few mins so I figured it was just a hiccup but then it started doing it while driving too (jerking and throttle would kill the engine) It started to happen more and more so I read up on NT and I ruled out it could be the CPS so before it died and completely left me stranded I replaced it, PITA btw due to it breaking off in the block but we got it. Come to find out that it wasn't the CPS and it was the FPR, it took a $hit on me and I was left stranded anyways. SO...I replaced the regulator and it ran rough for a few mins then smoothed out, thought all was good until I drove it later that day on a couple hour drive and when I went to accelerate and pass someone out of nowhere it sounds like the engine starts to misfire like crazy and has no power at all (Limp mode), I can drop it in neutral and rev it up a couple times and it goes away and when I drive normal it never happens but once I accelerate hard again it comes back. I had an autoparts store hook up to and and it's throwing misfire on all 6 cylinders (random misfire) and that's it nothing else is throwing code. So I'm so stumped, I have already ordered the TPS and the IAC in Hope of fixing it but as of now I've already started to chase sensors and I don't know what else to do. It doesn't have the power it used to either like something is choking it down, I cleaned the MAF too so yeah......can anyone try to give me an opinion on what else it could be? I would appreciate it so much and thanks guys.

Also I never unhooked the battery to reset the vehicle after installing the FPR and the CPS, do I need to? I figured the ECU would read after a couple minutes and set it's paramiters back to normal.

Hi guys I’m trying to change out my ECM in my 2007 V6 Tib took out the glove box but I’m having issues trying to take out the fan housing I take out the bolts screws and found a clip on the side but no luck I found a video about it but he starts by already having the housing out saying there’s 2 clips his I think is a 03 but if there’s another clip in back I can not get to can’t see can’t get hand in or a screw driver does anyone have any ideas? It doesn’t look like I can get the ecm out without removing the housing. If anyone has any tips I’d be very grateful thanks

Help removing A/C lines

So I was able to remove the a/c lines from the compressor, but I'm unable to remove the lines as they attach to the condenser. I removed the nuts on top of the lines but I'm unable to separate the line from the condenser. After removing the nut from each line there is a stud. Does the stud thread into the line and the condenser and need to be removed or is the lines just stuck to the condenser?

Tired of my old wheels falling apart, losing air, chrome beading, one bent from a pothole, etc. Looking for something used and cheapish, perhaps an unwanted and forgotten old set someone has laying around. I don't care about curb rash or appearance as long as the wheels aren't bent and actually hold air.

Looking for a set of 17" or possibly 18", preferably at 7.5" wide but considering other options.
Also considering a set of the 2007-2008 GT tib wheels if anyone wants to offload those.

I live in Phoenix, AZ, but will be traveling up through Vegas and Reno later this month.

One side tail lights not working even after replacing bulbs

Hi guys,

So I have a strange one, tail light and brake light on the driver side is not working but brake light is working upon braking. :|

I replaced the bulbs and found that tail light bulb was broken (it burned out). I also replaced the "Tail-LH" fuse in the cabin that was burned as well (how in the world did that happen?).
I also tried rotating the bulbs (I have 3) and still nothing.

Any Ideas?

I have a 2003 v6 gt with 6speed manual, Short throw shifter, cold air intake , headers , Borla exhaust, front and rear strut tower bars . My waterpump making noise and car overheating if I go more than 15 miles. Engine is 170,000 miles. I have a engine on a stand I was thinking about rebuilding. Any suggestions on a good kit to buy or the best way to do this? I would like to improve performance but don't need a race car either.
Any suggestions would be great.

Intermittent radio problem

So roughly 9 times out of 10 when I start my car the radio doesn't turn on. Everything else will work, clock, fan switches etc. just the the radio won't be on. The radio will then turn on at random anywhere from 1 minute to 10 minutes later and will stay on. Meaning when it does turn on it won't randomly turn off. I'm not very knowledgeable with electronics and electrical stuff but does anyone have any advice or where to start? Not sure what radio options there were but this is the infinity unit from an 04 GT.

I have 04 Tiburon gt 5spd w/o abs and the speedo doesnt work can someone help or direct me some where a internment ground comes from for the top speed sensor because i only get a internment power at the signal and missing a internment ground for the signal from the top speed sensor, cluster good, wheel spd good, top sensor is replaced with oem, gears are good, and i say a internment ground, because with koer if we manually spin the sensor with giving it a brief ground it sparks to alive and yes the fuses are all good, im really stumped and these wiring diagrams that are vague

Inside and Outside Door Handle Broke

So im in a bind, both my inside door handle and outside broke at the same time. Normally i would use a thin steel bar and push down on the bar on the side to open it and fix it but sadly the window bent the bar in a way i can't get it to come up thus making this almost impossible to do. I do not want to destroy my panel if i can help it. Anyone know a way to get the door to open?

05 tib acting like its flooded

I have a 05 tib with a 6 speed cold air and exhaust after a few months of work finaly got it all done was driving fine only a few times befor 1st to 2nd hard take off did it cut power like a clog or speed sensor car just didnt have power while driving down freeway sat for a bit and started right up but loss of power when goinging from 2nd to 3rd got towed home and while pulling off towe truck i started it so i didnt have to push it and it sat at 3000rpm wouldnt go back down went out after work with new air senser for intake and car wont start please help payed 35 for the car spent 15 gettting barings and o2 sensors and other things in order

Tranny won’t go into 4th gear

Two days ago, half way home from work my tranny all of a sudden didn’t want to go into 4th gear, it’s like there’s something blocking it and if I try to hard it would grind. It won’t even go into gear even if a try to match rpm’s. It only goes into 4th gear when it’s off. All the other gears are working just fine. I bleed the clutch but it didn’t make a whole lot of difference. I don’t know where to start, bushings, they look good, the cables attached to the bushings didn’t have any play. I’m thinking slave or master cylinder, selector fork...

Just wanted to introduce myself to everyone on here my name is alfredo and i have an 04 Hyundai Tiburon 2.0L in here mostly for car repair advice and to help others out with whatever’s knowledge i have gotten from working on mine. Thanks for reading hope to hear from you guys i sure need help with my rear wheel bearing project i got going on this weekend. Wondering if anyone has done one here yet?
